University of Michigan-Flint
Creative direction, art direction, campaign design & production
The University of Michigan-Flint Theatre & Dance season was a project I looked forward to each year because it gave me the opportunity to create outside of the university’s traditional brand look. Every production had its own story, personality, and audience, which allowed me to develop a distinct visual concept for each performance while still thinking about how the individual pieces would come together as a complete season.
My work extended across the full season campaign. I developed individual posters for each theatre and dance production, along with digital assets and a season brochure mailed to community members. The individual production identities then had to come together within the brochure as one cohesive piece without losing what made each performance visually distinct.
The posters also became part of the physical theatre experience. In addition to the standard posters distributed to promote each production, we produced them at a much larger scale and suspended them from the ceiling in the theatre lobby. Seeing the work move from an individual poster on my screen to a large-format installation within the performance space was always one of my favorite parts of working on the season.
