The WICAD Symposium grew out of an extensive faculty research project exploring how museums can create more accessible experiences for visitors with disabilities. Working with the faculty member leading the research, I developed the visual direction for the symposium around the established theme, ‘I See What You’re Saying.’

Accessibility was central to my thinking throughout the design process. I believe the communications we create, whether print or digital, should be accessible to as many people as possible, and that principle guides my work well beyond this particular project. The visual approach was designed to support the symposium’s message while communicating clearly to a broad audience.

This project was especially meaningful to me because I have personal experience with visual disability. The opportunity to apply my design skills to work focused on greater access and inclusion made this more than another design assignment. It connected directly to something I care about and to a principle I continue to bring to my work today.
