The University of Michigan-Flint View Book was an annual signature recruitment publication designed to introduce prospective students and their families to the university. I designed the View Book each year throughout my time at UM-Flint, continually evolving the publication to reflect changing recruitment priorities and tell the university’s story through its students and alumni.

This edition remains my favorite because of the students featured in it. I had the opportunity to get to know each of them and learn about their experiences, interests, and goals. Those relationships helped shape how I approached their individual stories and developed concepts for the photography that accompanied them. Many of these students have since gone on to build successful careers, which makes this particular publication especially meaningful to me.

Photography and editorial design worked together to create an authentic introduction to the UM-Flint experience. Each student’s story had its own personality while remaining part of a cohesive publication designed to help prospective students see themselves as part of the university community.
